Albany 2026 Mural Project
The mural project by well known local artist Glenn Hegedus will draw content from existing and new collaborative partners, stakeholders, Menang Groups and Elders. Contextual research, development and consultation will be from a lens of celebrating and acknowledging Albany's people, their stories, connection and community. By including large scale hyper realistic portraiture, with augmented and interpretive references to relevant contextual elements, the murals will create community way points of legacy, belonging and value.
As the City of Albany commences its Reconciliation Action Plan, contemporary visual interpretations will assist in delivering outcomes towards objectives of education, appreciation and knowledge transfers. Further opportunities for community workshops and storytelling are anticipated to evolve through the project. Sites for these public artworks are currently being explored and identified with several offers currently being considered.
