ALBANY 2026
In 2026, Albany hosted Western Australia’s first bicentenary, acknowledging the first place where Aboriginal and British people commenced living together on the western side of Australia.
Throughout this landmark year, our landscape and our community evolved to reflect the modern face of Western Australia, all while honouring the Menang Noongar heritage that has anchored this land for millennia. Every celebration and every story told this year built upon the two centuries that came before. To truly understand who we are today, you must look back at how we chose to remember our history. We leave you with the question we asked ourselves all year: What is the enduring legacy of Albany?
