Lighting the Sound Packages
As part of the Balgang Albany program for Albany 2026, Lighting the Sound invites visitors to experience an extraordinary transformation of King George Sound. Co-designed with Menang Elders and created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed light artist Kari Kola, this immersive installation will illuminate Albany’s coastline and landmarks across three weekends, drawing focus to the life-giving waters that hold deep ancestral, cultural, and ecological significance.

Free Shuttle Bus Service for Lighting the Sound
To help manage the large crowds expected in the CBD for Lighting the Sound, visitors heading into the city centre will be able to take advantage of a free shuttle bus service operating on event nights.
Running across the three weekends, the shuttle buses will connect several park and ride locations and accommodation providers with the Albany Entertainment Centre, which is a short walk from the activation zones at Anzac Peace Park and Stirling Terrace where the light installation can best be viewed.
- Route 811: Starting at Emu Point, this route travels via Middleton Beach.
- Route 812: Starting at Albany Leisure & Aquatic Centre, this route travels via Retravision Stadium.
- Route 813: This route runs southbound along Albany Highway.
Buses will begin operating around 5.30pm each night and will run return services throughout the evening.
