About the Event
This special exhibition marks 90 years of ABC Great Southern with archival footage and stills from the ABC archives, representing nearly a century of local reporting.
It all began with the launch of the Wagin transmitter in Minding, near Wagin, on December 7, 1936.
The landmark investment was the first of its kind in regional Western Australia that until then had suffered poor radio reception.
The ABC would go on to establish its first regional WA reporter in Albany in 1956 with this exhibition featuring stills from their TV reports, some of which have not been seen in decades.
The exhibition will be on display in the Co-Op Building at the Museum of the Great Southern for two weeks.
