About the Event

Large crowds gathered at Alison Hartman Gardens on 1 October for the Great Southern Noongar Festival, held as part of the City of Albany’s NAIDOC program.

The festival brought people of all ages together to honour and experience Noongar culture through music, dance, art and community activities. Performances by the Mooditch Nop Dance Group, Lilly Gogos, Wirlomin Singers and Yellowstone showcased Indigenous talent from across the region.

Families took part in damper making and children’s activities, explored community information stalls and enjoyed a free sausage sizzle throughout the afternoon.

The festival carried added significance in 2026, creating an important opportunity during Albany’s bicentenary year for the wider community to connect with Noongar culture, creativity and the enduring presence of Menang people on Country.
