About the Event

KAARLA WIRREN is a performance like no other. The vision of respected local Elder Aunty Carol Pettersen and presented by Southern Edge Arts with Noongar Associate Director Rachael Colmer, this powerful work celebrates the resilience of people in the face of historic change.

Set in the dramatic amphitheatre at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station, KAARLA WIRREN features fire artists performing alongside a cast of local young people who have spent six months developing this extraordinary piece.

Audiences will picnic under a canopy of stars as we share this special story of fire and its deep connection to spirit. Across cultures and generations, fire has been a place of gathering. In 2026, we will come together around the fire of KAARLA WIRREN to reflect on the past—and imagine our shared future.
