About the Event

KAARLA WIRREN brought together powerful storytelling, fire performance and community collaboration in a moving outdoor production at Albany's Historic Whaling Station.

Conceived by respected Menang Elder Aunty Carol Pettersen and presented by Southern Edge Arts with Noongar Associate Director Rachael Colmer, the performance explored resilience, connection and the impact of historic change. Set beneath the stars in the natural amphitheatre, the production featured spectacular fire artistry alongside a cast of local young people who had spent six months developing the work through workshops and rehearsals.

Audiences gathered around the symbolic presence of fire to experience a deeply reflective performance that celebrated the enduring strength of culture, the importance of community, and the shared stories that continue to shape Albany's future.
