About the Event
The community came together on New Year's Eve to launch Albany 2026 — honouring Albany’s rich past, embracing its vibrant present and looking towards a future shaped by community and connection.
Coordinated by acclaimed multi-arts organisation Breaksea, the stage entertainment set the tone for a year of reflection and storytelling, shining a spotlight on First Nations culture and outstanding local talent.
The evening featured live music performances accompanied by bespoke cinematography captured across Albany’s breathtaking landscapes. Family-friendly activities, delicious food offerings and spectacular fireworks displays over the harbour helped create a memorable celebration.
More than 20,000 people attended the event, marking the beginning of Albany’s bicentenary year and a shared journey of reflection, connection and community.
