About the Event
Join your local reconciliation community in Kinjarling | Albany for a morning of truth‑telling, connection, and collective purpose as Western Australia begins its bicentennial journey.
As we enter the 2026–2029 bicentennial period, we honour WA’s first settlement in Kinjarling | Albany, grounding this year’s National Reconciliation Week Breakfast in the powerful leadership and cultural authority of Minang / Goreng Elders and community voices. Their stories and truth will resonate throughout the statewide broadcast, anchoring our reflections and guiding us toward a more united future.
Hosted by Reconciliation WA, and shaped through deep partnerships with Minang / Goreng Traditional Elders, the City of Albany, and a range of generous supporters and stakeholders, this event continues the enduring relationships built through the RISING place based program. Together, we share truths of our state’s past, honour the present, and look ahead to WA’s bicentennial future, grounded in unity, justice, and First Nations leadership.
Begin the morning by gathering with community over breakfast, creating space for meaningful conversation and connection.
We will then join the live National Reconciliation Week Breakfast broadcast from Boorloo (Perth), where First Nations leaders, cultural performances and storytellers will help us reflect on who we have been, who we are, and who we choose to become.
This statewide broadcast expands access and ensures communities across Western Australia can participate. In partnership with NITV and available nationally on SBS On Demand, the event will share Minang / Goreng stories and bicentennial truth‑telling with audiences right across the country.
