Southwestern Australia’s peatlands provide important habitats for rare and unique flora and fauna, yet much remains unknown about their formation and biodiversity.
Guided by Noongar Elders, PEAT Southwest is a transdisciplinary research project exploring the geodiversity, biodiversity and cultural significance of these remarkable ecosystems. This lecture will share some of the project’s exciting discoveries, followed by a yarn with Dr Knapp about the cultural importance of peatlands.
The Gift of Truth Telling Lecture Series continues until October, with science lectures held on the second Thursday and history lectures on the fourth Thursday of each month.
