About the Event

The City of Albany, through the Albany 2026 program, is partnering with Breaksea to bring audiences back to one of the year’s most memorable cultural moments.

Relive The Films: Kaya 2026 invites the community to experience the cinematic works created for the New Year’s Eve event that launched Albany 2026.

Commissioned by the City of Albany and delivered by Breaksea, the 50-minute concert on New Year’s Eve combined live performance with a series of cinematic pieces developed with Menang Elders, local artists and musicians. These works explore story, language and connection to Country, featuring original compositions, community participation and voices from across the region.

The screening includes music videos for original works including Kinjarling and Koolangka by Gina Williams and the late Guy Ghouse, cinematic storytelling with Menang Elders on Country, and more.

Following the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a Q&A with the Breaksea creative team, offering insight into the process, collaboration and stories behind the work.

Doors open 6 pm.

Cash/EFTPOS bar available – no BYO alcohol.

Minors must be accompanied with a responsible adult.

Unallocated theatre seating on the flat floor and in the mezzanine dress circle. Please note: there is no disabled access to dress circle (access via stairs only).
