About the Event

Lawrence Cuthbert from the Albany Maritime Foundation will discuss the history of maritime preservation in Albany and the restoration projects helping keep those stories alive.

As Project Manager for the restoration of the historic fishing vessel Wildflower, Lawrence has played a key role in safeguarding one of Albany's most significant maritime artefacts. Built in Victoria and brought to Albany in 1896, Wildflower spent more than a century working the waters of Princess Royal Harbour, Oyster Harbour and King George Sound.

Widely regarded as one of Australia's longest continuously fished vessels, Wildflower remains a powerful reminder of Albany's working waterfront and fishing heritage.

This talk forms part of the exhibition Early Boatbuilding Around Albany and 50 Years of the Amity Replica, which explores Albany's maritime heritage and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Amity replica.
