In November 2026, Albany will glow with unity and shared purpose during Carrying the Fire, the grand finale of Albany 2026. This participatory event invites people of all ages to walk together, each carrying a lamp, forming a shimmering river of light through Albany’s hills and coastline.
This living artwork celebrates Albany’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, culminating in a breathtaking moment of togetherness. Participation is free, welcoming everyone to leave their mark on this extraordinary event.
Carrying the Fire is initiated, produced and presented by FORM Building a State of Creativity in collaboration with Creative Producer Southern Edge Arts and Artistic Director Annette Carmichael for the Albany 2026 Major Event Program.
